Down here in the Rogue Valley we get a serious vetch bloom in May. There isn't a lot of color variety, but it covers large areas of the surrounding hills, literally turning them purple.
One evening a couple of weeks ago I was frantically driving around attempting to be in the right place for the best light during an approaching thunderstorm. I missed catching a rainbow and lightning and several other locations just didn't pan out. I finally was forced to pull over, jump a fence and run up a hill at the last minute to grab this shot right before the sun went down. Then it started to rain. I like working under pressure if I can come away with a shot...otherwise it makes me want to huck my camera off a cliff.
I think the perspective is a little confined by the trees, but I like the lines of sun and shadows they create.
Really a handsome image, Sean - the composition and perspective are really nice. I like your decision to place the sunburst inside the tree on the left. It really adds depth and drama to the whole feel of the scene. Nice!
Haha, I've been in that panicked state trying to find a vantage before the light vanishes many times, some of my best photography has been made in that panic
As for this image, it looks like you work the same way, this is beautiful!
I think this is excellent sean. Great glow on the foreground, it's a classic! I debate maybe a slight crop on the right as the trees get a bit dark up there, but I also like the expansive feel of this. Something to play with if you get bored. Fantastic image!
