I posted a question in the digital forum regarding a real problem I'm having getting consistantly sharp images using my digital equipment. It occurred to me that since I'm not entirely sure the problem is the digital end of things,.. maybe I should also post it here to get all the possible feedback I can to resolve my problem.

Rather than post the subject seperately in both forums, I'll include the link to the original question as I posted it in the "Digital forum",..
http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/bbs.cgi?a=vm&mr=18148&b=vf3&st=0&la=617&ph=2&sid=590&u=590

and hopefully folks who might not ordinarilly check in the digtal forum might look in and with luck, have some insight to help me solve a completely maddening & frustrating situation.

If this is inappropriate posting, There will be no hard fellings if this post is deleted by the moderator!

TIA, Craig

Since it seems like you have good lenses, I would agree w/ what Guy said in the original post. If you had a lens that isn't sharp wide open then that is another story. If I have images that aren't sharp I find that it's either because I caused too much camera shake or because I used an aperture that wasn't ideal for that lens, sometimes both. Sometimes sharpness is an illusion as well. Low contrast subjects will usually appear less sharp than high contrast subjects too. If in doubt, then try to crank up the sharpening in the processing and see if it helps.
