Tawney owl in Garden
Got back from Poland to the Uk a few days ago.
Great excitement today as I found this Tawney in a tree today. She was not bothered at all by my presence and I had plenty of time to go back to the house to get camera and tripod.
She was quite high up and in dappled shade of course.
I shall check again tomorrow if it is perhaps a favoured roosting place and I would get some more chances to photograph her.

D2x in HC mode, 200-400 plus 1.4 converter, Tripod
1/30th, F/5.6, Iso 250
Raw conversion in PS2

Hi Paula
Nice to see a wild Tawny in the clear,The image looks strange around the head for some reason

What a great bird to have in the garden! Do the other birds flee, mob it, or ignore it?

Original post with green cast was deleted by mistake...Other birds seem to leave the owl alone. It was not there today.
I do not know why it looks strange around the head....I did two conversions..one dark and one light and merged them together...may be that is the reason.
As I said, I do feel somewhat at sea with converting Nef files in Cs2, I do untick all the boxes and start afresh but the colours seem often rather odd..Monitor is calibrated with Monaco spider. I have now in desperation downloaded NX and hope to come to terms with that better.

Paula - can you get hold of a copy of Phase One CapOne Pro - I think you'll like it far better and I think it's both easier and more powerful than NX :wavey: :wavey:

Paula I think it is probably the dual conversion that has made it look a little strange. The owl looks too bright for the background, giving it a slightly superimposed look. Apart from that, a wonderfull shot. :toast:
