Hi, weather permitting, i hope to drive to minsmere RSPB from london this saturday. Just wondering if there are any forests, farmland, etc enroute or near minsmere that i should not miss out. I've got mike's book already and its a great help for many of my trips but i'm hoping for some local knowledge as well. Particularly looking for the spotted flycatcher and a good spot for the kingfisher!

thanks in advance guys.

I would just go to Minsmere there is quite a varied habitat within Minsmere.Just up the road is Dunwich Heath where you can get dartford warbler I spent two days there a couple of weeks ago and it wasnt enough. lots to photograph. Avocets, Marsh Harriers, Hobbies, Garden Warbler, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler,Nightingale, Redstart, Turtle Dove, Med Gulls, lots of duck, deer red and muntjac plus anything else thats around. The centre has a list of latest sightings. Get there early as the car parks fill up really quickly.

Sound Advice  Look out for the Sand Martin colony as you go in.
