Hitting the painted hills on Monday/Tuesday. There are not a lot of options for lodging in Mitchell but was curious if anybody had a recommendation on which of them is better to stay at.

Thanks !!

A tent on that dirt road past where you turn left to get into the actual park. Just keep going till you find something nice. It's mostly BLM land so you can camp wherever you wish.

John,
Mitchell has only one motel. It's about $35 per night. The room has a sink and the place has a shared bathroom, but it is actually quite quaint.

I've stayed there too some years ago and echo Rick's sentiments. There is also a quaint cafe down the road which I recommend, and also a guy that has a pet Bear.
