Apparently the CS3 installer disables the OSX firewall and then forgets to turn it back on after the installation.

Go to your system preferences, select "Sharing", then "Firewall" and make sure to start it if it's turned off.

I just re-installed OS 10.3.9, and my firewall was off. Thanks, Guy.

I was emailed this info by a friend. I immediately clicked mine on and spent the next 3 hours trying to get my network functioning again. Is there a way to turn the FW back on without screwing up my network? Help please.

Richard, turning on the firewall should not interfere with your common network services unless someone manually changed the policy settings on it to block certain traffic.

It's a closed network just my desktop, laptop and dsl connection. I'm not sure why it messed up. It just did. I'll try it again and see what happens. After first writing down how everything is set up this time though.
