Sometimes when I am finished with an image I only save a web version if its one I don't care too much for.....Well, I just got an order for a print of one of those pictures....so now its back to adobe to try and re-create the image and make it looks as close as I can to the colors and tones of the one I posted online....

I have learned my lesson!!!!

Carry on!!

Mark....

Good to know I am not alone....Whew!!!!

Lucky for me it was one I had shot as a jpg so after bringing up the web version it only took about a minute to get the orig to look the same....small adjustment in Levels and the order is being sent to the printer now!!!!

lucky save!!!

Ouch...sorry to hear about that Rick.....were you able to come up with something comparable

Sorta, It was actually one of 7 images and the jury is still out if they want a different replacement than what I gave them.

If I work an image up I ALWAYS save a .PSD version before I start resizing so I can go back to it. I've been burned in the past as well and since a 1TB HD is at 315.00, there is no excuse

Terrabyte drives are availible now... ya never know so save everything???

I have 3 terrabytes of storage at my house. I just didn't like the image so I got rid of it and forgot to delete it off my site. Guess I learned there.

I use a lot of complex actions and one mistake I've done is to work a photo, size it to 8x10 for a test print, sharpen it with an action, but then after I decide I like it, realize that I don't have enough history levels to go back to before it was sized. Basically I'm hosed and have to redo the whole photo.

I've done worse. When I first started out, I knew nothing about anything, and scaled EVERY single picture down to web-sized before working on it. I've only been shooting for a year, so about 2/3rds of my stuff is only web-sized. I didn't realize what I was doing until a few months back. I just never do anything with my picture except for put them on the web. I have tried to recreate a few of them, and it is a huge pain in the butt. I can never get it to look like I did the first time around, and...it's just not fun doing it a 2nd time. Now I'm getting to the point where people want prints or whatnot...and I have to tell them that I'm and idiot, and can't print them bigger than 5x7.... I have had to turn down 3 publications due this mistake.

yeah I learned my lesson......every web version will now have a master TIFF file to go along with it....

I do save almost all my images as masters, but for some reason I didn't really care enough for this one to save it as a master......go figure!
