Darren's posts reminded me of some pics I got about a year ago. Brian and I were out there working the falls when several kayakers stopped at the top of the falls for a strategy session, and a few minutes later started coming over the falls.

We talked to this gal afterword and she said it was the first time she'd run this falls. As the photo implies, she executed it with a perfect landing in the plunge pool.

a few more pics and larger versions are here

I find this a huge relief after so so many long-exposure soft blurs where (IMHO) one should see real-live splashing white water. Good comp too!

Awesome capture Curtis. I like how paralell the kayak is. The frozen in action water is also nice as eric said.

this perspective makes the falls to look bigger then they are.....or at least there is much more water coming over them in this image.....Great capture..... :toast:

Thanks folks. She was pretty stoked when she finished the run, and it was fun to photograph them coming over the falls. I need to make a trip out to Husum one of these days and spend a few hours catching the kayakers on the White Salmon River.

The knee is healing, and it's strong. Although my range of motion is coming back a little slower than the surgeon and therapist would like, the fact that I'm making steady possitive progress means they're not worried about my recovery. There's a lot more to tell, but I'll let you folks email me if they want more detail.
