Todays Cub
One from today,I am doing some short sessions with these cubs,I put some food down and get in the hide, The cubs come out for 20-30 mins, have something to eat,a quick play and go back inside after which i leave, I dont want to put too much pressure on them although at some point i will increase the hours as i would like mum around in some of the shots

Fan-blooming-tastic Dave

Love the shallow DOF, and the eye contact.

Dave,

love the shots, excelent composition and significant 'aaaw' factor.

However, how worried are you about reliance on your feeding becoming the norm for these cubs, will it make them more reliant on humans and is there any chance the mother will become lazier (for want of a better way of putting it) if she doesnt have to provide as much for them. I understand you are not there all the time but thought I would ask the question anyway given some of the recent discussions on this forum regarding 'editing' of foliage around nesting sites etc.

Anyway, great photos, you're a lucky bugger.

Hi John
I understand what you are saying and i am very careful when it comes to feeding any wild animal,There are 4 cubs and they get about half a handful of soft dog biscuits finely chopped, they scrap over every morsel and look for more when its all gone,so are in effect still hungry for when mum returns, abit like having elevenses, All images are taken from a hide to stop association with me and food although if the cubs are out (happened once) when i get there i walk away, watch from a distance and return when they are in the den
Thanks for your comments and concerns

Another cracking image, I think I slightly prefer the previous upload with the two cubs but this one has just as much appeal

Dave,

This is going to turn in to a fantastic "as they grow" series - please keep posting them.

Cheers

Brilliant - the green "framework" sets it off beautifully

The eye contact here is truly engaging and to be anthropomorphic, the cub even seems to be sporting a 'smile'. :toast:

I think this is the best of the cub shots Dave. The colour balance looks a little 'cool' to me, but I do prefer slightly warmer looking images.

Cracking shot though.
