A bit more off the bottom and atouch of USM IMO.

Other than that, i like it :toast:

Hi Brian - a tad of USM would work for me too, and f8 on your 400 has made the BG a bit 'busy' - a nice shot though all the same :wavey: :wavey:

Brian,

makes me feel thirsty.

Crop looks ok but I would agree with the 'f8' comment, also a shame about the tuft of heather obscuring the breast. However, nice pose. :toast: :toast:

Square crops are not a favorite of mine but the image has nice colouration and shows the bird in its habitat-needs a touch more sharpening :toast:

I'm not sure the crop works, but I do like the shot. The f8 doesn't bother me too much - I quite like how it shows the classic heathery environment.

Bit of USM and it'll be a cracker.

I'm not too keen on the crop to be honest, its too close to being square without actually being square. I'd take a bit off the bottom to brng the ratio back to normal. The depth of field is fine for me - its good to see some of the environment and i don't find it too distracting

I would also prefer to see it as a 'normal' format but a shallower dof would have been better in my opinion as the bird was at some distance I presume and with your camera on a tripod you would have had enough dof. I agree about the extra usm but always difficult to judge prior to uploading.
Nice pose of your bird though.
