This might be a bit premature, but does the lupine bloom in the Acadia NP and the Sugarhill, NH area appear to be on it's usual timetable of peak being around the middle of June?
I don't know much about the Acadia lupines, but I hope to get over there this year. Last year the beginning of peak was mid june in sugar hill, and it doesn't really seem that variable year to year.
I'd check this link for a good guideline, it has photo diaries for the past few years...
Thanks for the info and website, Jim. If I do not get jammed up at work again this year I plan on being there around the 14th or 15th. If you see a blue GMC with MD tags that is me.
Can either of you tell me just where in Acadia the lupines are? It's a big place. I'm traveling to Nova Scotia on the 15th and could easily take the shoreline route instead of I-95 up through Maine.
Take Rt 95 to Bangor then head down towards Bar Harbor but instead head up Rt 1 from Ellsworth. The Lupines bloom big along Rt 1 north of Ellsworth. The peak around Arcadia usually is around June 20 - 25 but this year anythign sems to be going with some flowers late and other coming early. I think that Rt 1 from Ellsworth up to Machias has some of the prettiest Lupines in Maine.
