Today I found a new way to keep out of mischief - sit in a bed of nettles trying to photograph these guys in flight with a handheld 500 prime  or

168 frames and three hours later my left bicep was crying so I crawled back to the motor and drove home one-handed, desperate to see the results.

Bit dissappointing overall - they were flying over grass which gave a lot of the shots a green tinge in the whites and on a lot of the frames the blacks are blocked 'cos the ground wasn't giving me enough fill even at +1.3 comp.

This is one of the few where the blacks are a bit freeer.

Hi Andy

You have my sympathy, however even if this is the only 'keeper' I think it was worth the effort.

In answer to the question you raised yesterday about the snipe pic, the format was RAW with a massive crop, I loved the pose and isolation of the bird and tried my best to create a usable image.

Regards

Brian

Hi Andy,
Nice flight shot , I have to agree with John and Barrie , they really are a difficult bird to capture in flight.

Kind regards
Andy...

As has already been said, not easy to capture in flight and you have done well in this image!
