CS3 Installation Hassle: Mac

I just attempted to install PS CS3 (Design Premium)

Everything installed except PS. So I went to the Read Me document. Turns out that if you have a Trial Version of PS installed, then it should be uninstalled prior to installing the Suite.

Well, I dragged the Trial Version to the Trash and tried reinstalling the Suite. Everything worked except PS. So I went back to Read Me. In the fine print, Read Me says DO NOT drag applications to Trash to uninstall them. It then gives a procedure to Uninstall on a MAC OS X. I tried their procedure, but there was no finding the PS part of the Suite.

I Uninstalled the whole Suite and tried again.
Everything went ok, except PS. I get a message saying that PhotoShop is already installed. But it ain't.

If anybody has any tips for rectifying this situation, I will be most thankful.

Tim,

There are some very good posts on Luminous Landscape on this issue. Try http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16391 to start.

Cheers,

You have to go to the Adobe site and down load a program called something like MacCleaner. Run that, then the install will run with no problems. I'd send you the program except I've tossed it already.

This might help.. it also mentions the "CS3Clean Script" to remove the beta, with a link..

I resolved the hassle. Adobe Tech. Support walked me thru it. It is a very common problem: Mac users are running the Trial Version of PS CS3. They then buy PS CS3. They attempt installation without first uninstalling the Trial Version. Or, they attempt to uninstall by dragging PS3 to trash.

There is a procedure for uninstalling the Trail Version that is described in the Readme document.

Thanks to all those who sent advice. Tim Stenning
