It came yesterday. UPS left it in my unlocked garage (he locked it when he left). Mac Pro with quad 3.0 GHz processors, 4 gig RAM, a couple SATA 500 gig drives, and twin 30" cinema displays (I went a little crazy). I'm likely to bump the RAM by 4, and add another DVD burner with HP label printing technology (make lots of DVD slide shows for wedding customers). I might get another 250 gig SATA for PS CS3 to use as a swap file.

B&H still doesn't have the HP Z3100 printer we're putting in the studio, but I think I can order it from the HP store. Would you go with HP's third party RIP or go with ImagePrint RIP?

Okay, wedding and portraits ain't nature photography, but it pays the bills so I can pursue my real passion...

You use this new gizmo to work on photographs or to send rockets to the moon?

Funny you said Rockets to the Moon.

There is a consultant I work with at Rocketdyne (yes rocket motors) who has a Mac Pro running Boot Camp. He runs Pro/Engineer software on the Windows side with FX4500 graphics

Fantastic machine.

Kelly, I hear you about weddings paying the bills. Just got back from traveling for a weekend wedding shoot, and half the work still lays before me. Glad you got your MonsterMac. Hope it performs like the champ it should for you.

Kelly,

Before you plunk down on that lightscribe drive, have you considered one of Epson's solutions that prints on disks. My R1800 prints in full color on printable DVDs and CDs and it has excellent adhesion. The R800 does the same, and there are a couple cheaper printers that print on disks with dye inks. I think it is a more professional looking product than the lightscribe output.

I have an HP with the lightscribe drive, but I use the Epson to print on disks.
