Scrub Jay
Well, I haven't been getting out an about to shoot photographs, but I was able to capture this fella on my neighbor's chimney from my upstairs bathroom. Focus is a little soft, but not horrible. It looks sharp when printed.

Canon 20D
100-400 IS Handheld
1/100s @ f.8
ISO 400

I bet it's tough pointing the camera away from your daughter... Anytime I can get a close in shot of a bird , I feel like the image should be a success. Maybe I would like to see the light a little more diffuse, especially on it's belly side.

Is that a Blue Jay? Certainly looks like one. I've never seen one in the northwest - lots of Stellar Jays, but none like what you see back east.

It's actually a Western Scrub-Jay. Here's a link if you'd like to read a little more about them:

Their numbers actually seem to be on the rise and are starting to expand their range.
