These flowers, I think they are Clematis (right common name?), were found in part of the Hayman Fire burn area near the Goose Creek trailhead of the Lost Creek Wilderness.
The wildflowers here are out but pretty scarce overall, at least along the trail. There were columbine ready to come out, some aster, and others.
The Goose Creek trail up to the Shafthouse is a great hike. Check out my blog for more snaps from this hike. I took my canon G2 to travel light. Jesse, a friend of his, and I area heading up there for the weekend next week for some serious photo time. Here is a little teaser of the kind of stuff I hope to come away with (with more resolution).
Lost Creek Wilderness looks like an awesome area. I just took a look at your blog and Jesse's trip report from a few summers ago. Do you know if you can get there from Highway 67 through Sedalia and Deckers? I heard part of the road was closed a while back due to flooding but I am not sure if it has reopened. I live in Castle Rock so this place is right in my backyard and it might be closer to go that way than to take 285 and come down from the north.
We were just up in the Goose Creek area this afternoon. Pretty sure the roads are all open from Sedalia. Yes, there's access from 67N. From Deckers, turn right (uphill) for about 1.5 miles. The access road is on the left just ahead of a major trailhead.

Josh, I took the route home through Deckers last week. 67 is open from WP to Deckers where it was closed before. You should be able to take 67 out of Sedalia over the the platte, then south to Deckers. Like Ken said, just a few miles NW on the road to Pine (126?) and take the turnoff to Cheeseman Reservoir. Just before the road decends to Cheeseman you take a right on FS 211, Matukat road. A couple miles past the Molly Gulch campground you'll see a sign to the Goose Creek trailhead and the wilderness access.
