whilst hoping to keep within the non political guidelines, is it

if anyone has any experience fundraising for this porject and can give me some pointers then please get in touch.
Interesting article, i have no experiance in this field, but i agree with your point of view. Its hard to make a point without it becomming political however...
What needs to be done is like in some other areas, where the poor local fishermen, are trained and group together to offer "sea safaris", to tourists.
The problem with this is tourist safety in Ecuador. With the Foreign office making statements like:
""Express kidnappings" are on the increase. You should exercise caution when arriving in, and travelling around, Ecuador and be aware of the general risks of crime for visitors."
and
"Muggings and pick pocketing are common, particularly in the cities and in places frequented by backpackers."
Things like this do not help, so the issue would have to be taken with the government to improve security within the country itself.
thanks for taking the time to reply, yes the tourist safety issue is important, and i have to wonder sometimes if these warnings arent somewhat like best by dates on supermarket food, there to protect the issuer of the warning more than the people potentially involved.
i've lived there mostly for the last three years and can honestly say i've never had to worry, never thought about my safety when i leave the house, and never felt threatened, and i smile to myself when poeple here say "oh my god you need an armed guard there don't you".
but you do hear stories.
i like the idea of your sea sfaris, i think it could work and lets hope the tourist keep coming.
