Captured in Minsmere over the wet weekend. I wasn't expecting to shoot along the coastline, so i didn't bring groundpod or skimmer and this shot was done belly crawling and handheld using my 300-800 and 20D. Terns seem to be nesting now and i wonder if there's anywhere nearer to london to shoot them. Any ideas guys?
Can't help with the location advice I'm afraid. I would clone out the dust spot top left in this image, but overall, the open bill helps make this a nice shot.
Bloomin' eck - dust bunnies the size of Jupiter (three that I can see!) Must have been a hefty crop to get them that size.
Lovely birds - I have the UK's largest breeding colony on my doorstep (not literally of course - not enough room ) and they are great to watch however, when photographing, remember they are a Schedule 1 species

noted that they are scedule one birds. I don't intend to shoot the nesting. Just want to get some fishing shots.
Not sure if it is closer for you than than Minsmere, but the saltings pools at Pennington Marshes used to be a reliable place for low fishing LT - but I have not been there for a few years now - they are located between Lymington and Keyhaven in the New Forest - the pools attract all sorts of waders, but no hides etc to shoot from.
Guy Edwardes regularly mud crawled along that bit of coast line for his wader shots
