Our young children really love hiking and the outdoors.

This really helps when I want to go somewhere scenic with the whole family. Here are few 'shameless' shots from this past weekend:razz:

My 5 y.o. wanted to spend all his piggy bank life savings on 'waterproof' hiking boots.LOL...

Very cool, Derek! It's exciting to see the next generation of great outdoor enthusiasts! (Hey - where were the kids' cameras??!)

Derek, nice looking family you got there. Your kids will thank you one day for introducing them to the great outdoors at an early age. I definitely owe my parents for doing the same. Oh, and tell your son that he can just use Nixwax and save a nickel or two.

You've got a fine looking family there, Derek. It's great that the kids enjoy being out on the trail at such a young age - a sign of good things and fun outings to come! Just be glad that your son is interested only in waterproof boots and hasn't yet gotten into photography; when he does, he'll be breaking into your piggy bank.

My little guys even come along for the sunrise shots sometimes. :jump: Here they are waiting for first light near the spectacles in Arches.

Well, see what you did Derek! Started a family thread. Well they are in the landscape right?
Here is my "little guy"... 6'1" without the hair and all of 16. This was our snowshoe hike to Dream on 4/25. We had a ball and Taylor is a great pack mule!

Wow,

This is great guys.

Tony, That shot of your little ones getting ready for sunrise is way cool!!!

John, your little one is really BIG, especially with the hair.

Jamie and Rick, my son acutally took an interest in photography at three y.o. So I bought him a cheap digitial on ebay. Then for his 5th bday I upgraded his camera to a little better Canon p&s again from ebay. He goes on hikes with me for predawn shots and actually asks me to wake him up at 3:30AM to go catch the sunrise. :wavey:

Here are a few of his recent 'nature' shots:

That's great Derek. Your kids are lucky!
Of course with digital you can just let them fire away.

My parents weren't much for travel and outdoors, so I did my first overnight hike at 17 and got my first camera at 19. I've made up for that since then.

Awesome pics of the family Derek! That's so cool to see! I was fortunate, as my folks brought us out to Colorado every summer fro vacation when I was a kid, so the love of the mountains got to me early! I certainly am looking forward to getting my little one out there as soon as he can also!!

Hey Derek,

Nice to see your adorable kinds diggin' the outdoors!

Thanks for sharing the family pics, guys.
I agree with Scott, it's great to have parents that enjoy the outdoors. Growing up in Colorado, we lived in the mountains and went camping/fishing a lot. That definitely influenced me. My boys both enjoy going hiking with me, but getting up for sunrise isn't too popular.

My 11 year old, Tanner, is on the left in this shot
My 16 year old, Parker, is a budding nature photographer and enjoys the occasional photo trip with me (when not chasing girls or working). John, my son is taller than I am too. What a pain.

I think it's a great legacy to grow up in a place like this and enjoy the outdoors. Good job!

My son A.J. prefers a Canon G1, although I'm trying to get him to upgrade to a Rebel. He's only 2 though.

Kalin, great shot of your two boys. They look like they are really enjoying themselves.

Jesse, thanks for sharing that super cool photo of your son. That would be a great shot for a Canon ad. Start 'em young before they go to the dark side. Sorry Nikon folks.LOL... :jump:

Well my internet connection was down for the last four days so I am just getting back to thei thread. Kalin it is tough to apply discipline to the boy when you have ot stand on a chir to look him in the eye. I made him stand in a hole for the shot above!
