This photo was shot in the Redwoods state/national park
in North California, near Crescent City. I do not remember
the exact name of the redwood grove trail we went on.
We just randomly stopped on I-199 because we saw other cars
and were looking for the National Park part of the forest
(there's small patches of NP property apparently in what
is mostly a state park).
Turned out to be a beautiful grove, all the moss and giant
ferns under a thick canopy of redwoods gave that humid fresh
feel of a prehistoric forest. The light was toned down by the
foliage though it was a beautiful bright day.
yes, i would also go along with the crowd...tighter crop to get rid of the bright spot, brighten leaves and darken the rest of the background... i really like the exploration though and it is definitely something i would try myself - nice try - repost your revision....
I'm not one to go against mob rule.... I do like what you're attempting to convey and I think you've got the subject matter to do it. Bright spot's been mentioned.
For my taste, it's dark to the point of a bad exposure. But knowing you did this intentially helps, but I think this could be much brighter and still get your impression across.

I have made corrections to it in a linked photo.
