My new 1D Mk III arrived yesterday and I'm sure it will be a while before either Adobe or Apple updates their products to handle the new raw files. So, I'm looking at using Digital Photo Professional for a while to convert them to something useful. Has anyone used DPP before? Does it "clunk"? Anything I should watch out for?
Thanks!
Kelly
PS I just looked and Lightroom with ACR 4.1 does support the new camera! Yay team Adobe!!
Hi Kelly,
I believe Adobe released yesterday for download Raw 4.1 for CS3, which includes the Mark III. Good luck with the camera, I'm jealous and still waiting for mine.

I'm using DPP for 1DIII while I try to find my serial number to upgrade to CS3. Waiting on Lightroom too. The Raw file processing in DPP looks great. Canon's user interface looks like a high school computer class project gone horribly wrong.
Isn't the latest version of DPP 3.1? All that's needed for download is any version of DPP on the machine. Worth upgrading an old version even without a new camera.
While the number of controls and the user interface for DPP is far from elegant, the results I get using it are better than anything I've been able to pull from Adobe ACR. Give it a try and after a while that clunky user interface will grab you with results.
For me there is one big difference between DPP 2.x and 3.x. When batch processing the source of the files can no longer be a network drive. DPP will still save a Batch processed file to a network drive but it will not read(source) it from a network drive.
Why and how do they break the simple stuff??!!??(sigh..)
