I was hoping to get an HP Z3100 printer for the studio, but I found out they are just vaporware for at least another month or so. So we're considering the Epson 7800. On paper it seems to have better specifications than the HP. I believe it does not automatically generate .icc files, so that's a bit of a pain, but I think I will get better results using PrintFix Pro 2.0 at 700+ color samples like I do on my R2400. The Epson costs about a thousand dollars less with the Colorburst RIP package bundle. So... Is anyone using this beast for production work? Any complaints? I've been real happy with the K3 8 color ink system in my R2400 (tend to print a lot of B&W) and I can't imagine that 2 more inks will make that big a difference. Plus I get to keep the Epson ABW driver that I've grown to love over the last year (not without some growing pains mind you).
I've been using one for the past year or so now and have nothing to complain about with it.
I print mostly onto canvas and also a lot of watercolour reproductions, it handles everything that is put to it with ease.
I'm using about a roll and a half of canvas every month and a roll of watercolour fine art paper in that time too, not the hardest worked printer in the world.
Cheapest-to-run printer I've ever had and the result are top notch
