So far I can't get a profile that I'm happy with. Are there any tricks to profiling a MacBook Pro 17" display, or should I just profile it off of the display's factory settings. Also, I've heard some say that even though this is a Mac, I should use a gamma setting of 2.2 rather than 1.8 when creating my profile.

Scott, I have a MacBook Pro 17 and I just the Standard Gamma (1.8). If you look at the Display Caibrator Assistant, it says, "You may want to use 2.2 if you are working with images to be displayed on TV or PC-compatible computers."
I'll admit that I haven't gone searching to find the answer but then I've been happy with my colors.
I wonder if it might have anything to do with the glossy screens that are becoming more prevalent???
Let me know if you find out anything.

Scott, the color issue has generated a lawsuit against Apple. Either way, for best compatibility I would suggest a gamma of 2.2.
