Denver Digital Imaging Center, (AKA The Slideprinter.) is having an open house on June 6th from 4-7 pm and we would like to invite the members of the Rocky Mountain Nature Photographers. It will be an informal evening of image viewing and discussions with photographers from the Rocky Mountain region. Fuji representatives will be available with information on the latest developments in film and digital cameras. We will be serving refreshments and anticipate having samples of the new Velvia 50.
Hope to see you....

CAZ, The evening is open for just about anything. Customer's work will be stored away for safe keeping and most of the labs operations will be ending early that day to accommodate the evenings activities. However, we do plan to demo the Chromira printers, and the ICG -360 Drum Scanner.
I was there along with several other folks who frequent here. The Fuji rep was handing out samples of the new Velvia 50 and Provia 400X in 35mm and 120 format. No 4x5 though. He did say the new Velvia 50 would be available in a few weeks in 35mm, 120, 220, 4x5, and 8x10 format. He had several examples on a light table showing the difference between original Velvia 50, Velvia 100, and Velvia 100F. No examples of the new 50 unfortunately. According to the rep, the primary difference between 100 and 100F was that 100F handles specular highlights and skin tones better than 100. 100 is supposed to be a faster version of the original 50 but he didn't seem to think it quite lived up to that goal. I think that was his personal opinion and not Fuji's. According to the rep the only difference between original 50 and new 50 is the acetate base. The emulsion is supposed to be identical and therefore the resulting image should be identical to original 50. Which means (to me) it'll still be tricky to scan well. I got three rolls of the new Velvia 50 in 120 and hope to be shooting them this month.

Gee Rich, whatever happened to all that new-fangled digital camera gear you use when you work as a wedding photographer?
David - Thanks for posting this invite. Will there also be tours of the facilities and discussions of DDICs scanning and printing procedures?
Thanks,
