I know this is a bird that you can see over here but I am still piling through my images from the Iceland tri. Anyway this is an image that I took whilst in Iceland with Helge and Rene. Comments are as always welcome. The technical details are:
Camera: Canon EOS 1D Mk IIN
Lens: Canon 500mm f4 IS + 1.4x
Aperture: f7.1
Shutter Speed: 1/320
ISO: 20
Metering: Evaluative
Exposure Control: Aperture Priority
Camera Support: Beanbag + Car window
RAW Conversion: RawShooter Premium
Post Processing: Levels, Curves, USM (FocalBlade)
On a personal note I would like to thank Rene de Heer for doing such a magnificent job of organinsing the trip. Rene had obviously spent a lot of time researching locations and nuturing local contacts and was able to change the itinery based on real time information which meant that we were able to visit a number of locations and always see magnificent birds and scenery. To be honest without Rene I would not have had a clue where to start looking for birds! I know Rene is planning on another trip to Iceland next year and I already have my name down!
My advice - If you get a chance to go to Iceland (preferably with someone with local knowledge - it's a BIG country ) then do so - you won't regret it.
Another fine Icelandic image, hope there's many more to follow.
I must say I much prefer the first version (sorry Andy )
The blacks certainly look very rich and dark but there does seem to be plenty of detail there, even on this small jpeg.
Although revealing shaow detail can often be desirable, personally, I like black plumage to be nice and dark.
