New forum reader here. I've been reading posts on here for quite awhile and have learned much. I'm new to digital. Have been shooting a Canon Powershot S3, which I've enjoyed, and just recently ordered my first dslr, a Sony Alpha DSLR A100, primarily because I have several Minolta Maxxum lens. Looking forward to learning how to use it. Would like to eventually try selling my work, but right now just enjoying "shooting." Looking forward to continue learning from ya'll.

Welcome to NPN Russ. I don't believe there is a more congenial and friendly place of higher learning anywhere (some stuffy educational institutions included)! We are looking forward to seeing your work and most importantly reading your critiques of our work. That process is where the real learning takes place. Welcome! :wavey:

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'll try to be involved as much as I can. My day job takes up a fair amount of time. So, any time off I try to get out and shoot. Presently, I live in Gooding, Idaho. I love to shoot just about anything, but lately I've been shooting scenics and old buildings. Of the buildings, I shoot first in color then go back and shoot in b&w. There are quite a few old stone barns, farmhouses, and old schools in the hills around here. Most of them have deteriorated a fair amount and it saddens me to see so much history just disappear.

Me too!
