Hey, guys, what can we do to promote the Weekly Challenge forum? There are some fine images there. Stacy Egan has a great Backlit Cholla, Lon Overacker has Saguaro Sunset, and Paul Breitkreuz has a Desert Bouquet--just to mention a few ...

I would invite all of you, even if you post elsewhere, to take a look-see. I think it's worth your time.

Cheers ;^)

It's always a fun forum, although I don't always have something to post there...(no cactus around here in NC!) I always browse all the galleries since I don't want to miss anything!

I slide in every so often as well - is this the last weekly challenge? I noticed Jim hasn't posted upcoming themes...

Alice, It is a fun gallery and Will, I have no idea if this is the last weekly challenge. I would think not, but then what do I know? I've hung out at NPN less than a half dozen months.

I just hope there is no Weekly Challenge for Sumac trees. I've just spent the last couple of hours hacking down a small multi-trunked Sumac in the front of my house.

Guess we'll all see what the future holds.

Alice - prickly pears are fairly common in NC. They are one of the few cacti with a huge geographic range, extending beyond the traditionally thought of desert environs. But having said that, I have never seen them in the western end of the state, certainly not near Boone, Asheville and the Parkway regions. Mostly just along the eastern third, where it is lower and warmer.
