Taken last night using car as hide.
This site(old straw bales) has been used by Kestrels for at least the last three years.
Its within a busy working farm yard but the birds dont seem to bothered.
Have been watching her for quite some time now and new she had young last week. Didn't know how many until last night when she brought in a vole and proceede to tear it up giving each one a piece in turn.
Problem here is that the light doesn,t reach the nest entrance at all in the afternoon.
This gave major problems with shutter speed etc.
Resorted once again to mirror lock up at times with some sucess.
Usual work in CS2 with the addition of toning down some of the straw.

A Major image-brilliant-very different,I dont know what the red thing is at the top but i would be inclined to clone it out :toast: :toast:

Hi Dave that red thing is the nylon string holding the bale together.
If I clone that out the bale might be in danger of collapsing.
Yes I probably should have taken it out.

I like your shot a hell of a lot, very appealing indeed. Yes, the red string would be better gone!

Top stuff indeed, as for the nylon bale string it didn't catch my eye until I read the comment about, leave it in imo, it's part of the Kestrels environment..

Nice work.

Major, love it, the clarity of the kestrels gaze really grabs and draws you in. I also didn't notice the string until mentioned, not an issue.

I very intimate and pleasing image Major. I'd leave the string in - it almost helps add a frame to the shot.
