Does anyone have any experience with the on-line courses? And, if so, what has been your experience?

Thanks,

Carol

I'm a graduate. I think the materials are very good, although unless they have updated them they emphasize film, with some supplementary materials on digital. The course covers just about every area of photography there is. Unless they have changed it, it's not an online course, it's a correspondence course. I'm glad I took it because at the time I had no other option for an in depth photography course. If you have access to some good photography courses at a community college or university I might recommend that instead. I found the instructors to have a bit of an attitude, but that may just be the fact that I'm from the south.

I took the NYIP correspondence course as well, didn't finish the last section, however, so didn't graduate. I found it to be very helpful but when it got to advertising and fashion photography I seemed to lose interest as I was getting more and more involved in nature photography. It was, as Alice noted, geared to film primarily. They do have a new digital photography course, I see. It took as long as 2 months to get the feedback from the instructors and that was demotivating. I would take it again as I really did learn lots, if there were no local courses available. If you have the time and money perhaps an intensive summer course such as is offered by the Rocky Mountain School of Photography would be the way to go?
Let us know what you decide and why.

Thanks, guys,

Obviously I'm just starting doing the research.

I have no idea what Dixie college in St. George offers.

I was under the impression that NYIP was on-line and I'll need to check further on that.

Alice, New Yorker's even blow their horns in California ;^) And, I say that even though half of my relatives came from that neck of the woods.

Gracie, that's for the idea of the Rocky Mountain School of Photography. That's something else to consider.

Thanks again,

Carol
