A very peaceful and serene experience. There was no one around me for miles as I stood and enjoyed the sunset some four miles up. This is why I hike; this is why I live.
The sweeping lines of the past skiers sure lead the eye nicely into the peaks,

Really like how you used the runnels in the snow to lead towards the peaks in the background. If you're interested in a critique... I find the leaning trees somewhat distracting. I wonder how the comp would look if you were to step in front of the those trees?
Which peaks are we looking at? Mt. Goode? I'm stumped.
The sweeping lines are called rain runnels, and are caused naturally as water accumulates in snow melt. This is a great use for them! I'm going to guess Hurricane Ridge, in Olympic Park. The light is awesome as well. A fantastic image. My only thought to the contrary would be the very dark portions of the tree at right. Did you try double-processing the RAW to restore a little detail there?
Thanks, Marc.Nope, this is off of the mt. loop highway within the north cascades, a mere hour from my residence. Hurricane ridge sounds like a mighty fine idea, however. I hope to hit the hurricane area during the simultaneous moonrise/sunset later in the year. The tree darkness is a minor concern of mine, I'm sure I have one from that evening that offers a bit more brightness in those areas.
I realized it was the NC right after I looked through some Hurricane Ridge stuff from a few years ago. This is far more rugged. 11 hours from my residence, so I don't get up there too often.
