Pileated Woodpeckers
Pileated Woodpeckers (Dryocopus pileatus)

Stumbled upon a woodpecker condominium a dead tree with five resident species.

These two female/male youngsters were waiting for mum to return with a takeaway.

Canon 350D handheld 500mm f6.3 1/2000sec

Kansas has 460 known species getting to within shooting range is the challenge.

Your critique and comments please.

Thanks

Hi Barry

Crop this to a portrait(to get rid of most of that blue, so the heads are on the right hand side looking to the space on the left). Then add some USM and its there.

I like this :toast:

Be interesting to see the re-post with the improvements to the composition.
Wonderful birds in an attractive pose.
