Collared Dove in Flight
Took this Collared Dove pic today, managed to track for quite a long way, this is one of a burst of 15 shots at 10FPS:eek: all were in focus even though I did not keep the Dove in the centre point, I assume the focus locked on even though the bird drifted out of the focus point?

Taken with:-
Canon EOS1D MKIII

* Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS + 1.4x Extenders. Handheld
* 420 mm
* Exposure 1/5000 at f/4
* Exposure bias +2/3 EV
* Aperture priority
* ISO 400
* PP Raw in DPP then cropped, re-sized and smart sharpened (not much) in PS CS3, This is less the 25% of the original frame.

For such a small crop at 400iso this is very impressive Nick - looks like the Mk3 was worth the money :biggrin:

Interesting post Nick in view of the technicals and description.

Stop posting this type of info and shot. :mad:

It just makes me look longingly at retail websites and gets my credit card company wringing their hands with glee.

Interesting to see how the image crops down and also to hear about the focus system.

A little tight in the frame - but everything else looks really good!

I go with all that is said already.
Very exciting for you to get such a good shot so quickly with your new camera.
