Brainard Lake area status?

Anyone know if the road up to Brainard Lake is open and the condition of the trails & lakes?

It's supposed to be open this weekend. I'm thinking of taking a drive up there on Sunday, but won't be able to make it before then. I'd appreciate any status reports from others if they make it up there before then.

I talked to the ranger last week and they said it was on schedule to open yesterday, June 8th. But I've not been up there either.

I was thinking of going up yesterday and didn't because I wasn't sure of the conditions, so if anyone has been up there it would be great to know for this coming weekend.

Sorry - I didn't make it up there. The wife wanted to hike the Mt. Evans Wilderness, so that's where I wound up.

I have a friend that was up there over the weekend. He said there is a LOT of snow around Long Lake and really didn't see any wildflowers starting to pop out yet down lower...

There won't be much in the wildflower department up there for most of a month yet, in all likelihood; it's way up there in altitude.
