I'm going through my old photos and reworked this image. I slightly cropped the bottom. Note--this is photo art--I cloned out three tree-tops that extended into the water. I'm not sure that this photo is actually possible to produce in-camera.
This was last August.

I like the expansive sky, You certainly captured the essence of the crater lake experience as I remember it

Beautiful image - the background clouds are really outstanding! I also like the "art" decision to present just the lake surface in the foreground, and keep the emphasis on the horizon. Nice!

Thanks for the kind words, all. Another interesting thing is the blue is much more saturated than shows in the sRGB version here. You can see a noticeable difference when toggling back and forth between Adobe and sRGB profiles. I'm not used to seeing that big of a difference in any photo..

Wow - this is pretty saturated, too. The more I look at it, the more it looks like an art print to me! I can't get over the clouds along the horizon. Well done!
Now I am really looking forward to my visit to Crater Lake!! Love this expansive shot. I wish the clouds at the top of the shot were whiter, but I'm just knit-picking. I love this.
Mike,
I don't know how I missed this one. It has to be close to the most original comp I've seen of this lake. Nice work!

Darien, I agree with you. I dodged the sky at the top as much as I felt safe doing (without making it noisy). A reverse grad would have worked better for this shot, if I had any! I appreciate the comments.
