Celebration in Green
Took advantage of the amazing weather this weekend to wander out to some of our ponds in the CVNP. I've shot Sylvan Pond in the fall, but never any other time of year. Had to wait for some dog enthusiasts to stop throwing sticks into the water for their Labs to retrieve. I was set up when they arrived, but apparently they didn't understand that I was trying to shoot reflections  By the time they left, the breeze had kicked up, so the reflections aren't perfect.

How do you feel about the vegetation in the foreground? (It's the aptly-named Floating-leaf Pondweed.) Does it help the image, or would you rather see just the reflection?

Thanks for having a look.

Chuck - I definitely think the vegetation helps the image. It gives the shot some flow to my eye, and ties in with the same vegetation you can see on the far shore. I'm also not bothered by the slight "imperfections" in the reflections - the point is clear!

Does that Pondweed flower at any point?

Christopher - Thanks for the comments. Here's a link for more info on pondweeds. Apparently, there is a flowering stalk, but I don't think the flowers are as dramatic as a waterlily or lotus. (I've never seen the flower.)

Chuck,

Wow, if I know it was you I would have stopped throwing sticks in the water! ( only kidding)

This looks great. This pond is so photograph-able with the curve etc but the curve of the pond weeds amplify the curve to the lake.

This is a solid 10! just shows that if you do it right, you can shoot in difficult light.

I like how the foreground pond weeds make a curved line for the eye to follow through the frame. Works for me...the wind on the water doesn't bother me at all. Nice shot Chuck.
