I kinda messed up when I posted the first comp from this spot in the ESS forum. I had though I took this in the middle of the summer last year, but when I went back to the original RAW file, I discovered that it was actually in mid-October. but still, this kind of light at 4:00pm is pretty unusual even in October.

If you compare this image to the one I posted in ESS, which do you prefer? I actually lean toward this one, but I'm betting that most of my fellow PNWNPers will prefer the simpler composition in ESS.

BTW: I processed this one a little differently so the colors are more magenta, but there was a hue shift in the sky between shots... probably not this much though.

Love the layers and colors in this one. I'd be tempted to clone out that top left branch though.

Curtis,
I like this one best.(really like it). The haze really gives a good perspective of distance and depth.

Thanks Eric/k

Good cloning suggestion. I'm submitting this for an upcoming article so I'll clone that out before I send it off.

I agree with Eric about the branch. This one is different than the one on ESS but it's still real nice.

Man, what a beautiful eve that was, eh?

I like this version best, and agree on the branch on the left. The tree on the right looks slightly out of focus, and a little "blobby" on my monitor - could just be from image compression, but it's not quite as sharp as the other tree silhouettes. Is this looking NW from the Timberline Trail? I almost thought I saw a sliver of Lost Lake in there.

Tom, I'm pretty sure that tree is OOF. it's too close to the camera position, for an f8 shot. This is facing roughly SW from the SOUTH CLIMB #183 trail.
