July 4th 2006 Sierra Nevada Range.
D2x, 28-70mm, ISO 100..

Had all sorts of weather that day. Got a bit of rain, some thinder and lightning and it even hailed for 5 minutes (pea sized). One of the days with a good monsonal flow coming up the Eastern Sierra....

Eric,

Very nice alpine and Sierra landscape. Can you tell me where you shot this? I'm hoping to plan a backpacking trip for later this summer and I'm narrowing down the possibilities.

I like the foreground and like that you have that open patch of blue to break up the clouds.

That looks like Bear Creek Spire in the bg which would make this Little Lakes Valley just above Rock Creek Canyon?? I like it Eric. It looks like it could stand a slight bump in exposure or increase the midtones via curves adjustment layer? Those do look like some ominous looking cumulus clouds!

The photo has nothing wrong, but I would see it as a background for say a desktop. However it's too quiet in it for me, so my eye gets bored looking at it, as it has nothing to really attract it.

OTOH, for a buccolic shot, the front rock and flowers composition helps feel the depth of perspective to the mountains and the touch of purple is quite nice.

Beautiful rendition, Eric...
We'll be up in the Eastern Sierra this next weekend...
hope you left us some flowers??
the forecast sounds like we might get some clouds on Sat ,,please....
I love the many shades of green you have in there....

In gratitude,

The middleground isn't all that interesting to warrant that much of it but the scenery is great. It would be nice to see more reflections in the water.

A very nice and crisp image that instantly places me right in the middle of the scene. I really like the placement of the treeline in your composition.
