I'm on vacation this week and thought I'd post a couple pics. Chasm Lake was still very frozen over but made for an untypical shot. If you go up there have some poles for balance because the snowfields before Columbine Falls were more hazardous than usual.

Here is another of Sprague Lake and the little duck that posed for me. If anyone has any ideas for day hikes for the rest of this week, let me know. I'm thinking of going to Lake Helene.
I hiked up to Black Lake Sunday - there was a lot of snow past the Glacier Gorge campsite and it was a bit treacherous before sunrise, but doable - probably not as bad as that snowfield near Chasm Lake. That thing is no fun before sunrise. No doubt Loch Vale & Lake Helene hikes have a lot of snow as well.
Hiked Dream/Emerald this morning. Easy to deal with the snow in there. Only bad thing was that it rained on me the whole time (starting my hike around 5AM).

Anyone know the condition of the trail to Haiyaha?
Some deep snow on a good section of it. The lake is clear of ice though.

Yesterday I stopped at the trailhead for Haiyaha. Originally, I thought of heading that direction. That was one of the areas on the Dream Lake trail where there was snow, and it looked like it would continue for much of the Haiyaha trail.
Nice pics, James! Id like to see more of chasm lake--that ice looks nice.

Just got back from Bear Lake. I saw Tony B. up there. That was my best shot from Chasm Lake. The ice is awesome looking. The detail doesn't show up as well at this size. Thxs for your comment Stan. I;m trying to formulate a plan for Friday sunrise. I'm still thinking of Lake Helene but wondering if it is passable. I know there is snow but if it has been traveled it doesn't bother me. I tried Haiyaha yesterday from the Dream Lake side it was to dangerous to negotiate . Is it passable from the Glacier Gorge trail. Would appreciate any feedback RMNP fanatics... or other ideas.

Really like the light and detail in the first image.
I was up at Haiyaha this morning. The trail has some snow on it above Dream. It requires a bit of scrambling. I took my snowshoes but didn't need them as the snow was fairly easy to navigate. Once you get up to the overlook it is pretty clear most of the way there. Here's one shot from this morning. I haven't had a chance to process the rest yet.

Nice shot Erik, I slept in today. Had a great week off though. Sometime I'd like to go to Haiyaha and Helene for some early light shots.
