Hey up Mark,
Have you investigated Benro or Fiesol? I have a new product from Fiesol that weighs 1.1Kg including ball head and supports 6Kg! So can happily use it with my D2X, 300mm 2.8 and 1.7 or 2x TC. Folded length 43cm. Cost half that of Gitzo equivelent.

Thanks Tim

I havent really heard much about Benro or in particular Fiesol. I understand that Benro is a Gitzo clone or rip off and that there really isnt much difference between them accept the cost. Although I expect a few Gitzo owners will put me firmly right on this. After all Gitzo wouldnt give you a lifetime guarantee if their standard wasnt the best.
I'm fairly new to photography and I havent got much in the way of equipment as yet but it is a hobby that I am keen to establish myself in as a keen amateur over time.
I feel if I get kit that is going to last me and I can grow into, it would save me money in the long run.

Mark, check out the Benro range. I had a Gitzo 1325 and recently replaced it with a Benro. Excellent tripod, nothing wrong with it. I could have got one of the new Gitzo's as well but for less you will get a tripod that is as good.

Check out the following website:

The tripod that i bought is the Benro C 358N-6 with shorter column.

Thanks for your offer Graeme, I know you look after your kit but unless its gold plated I think I'll take my chances in getting one slightly cheaper. Which I now have. Thanks for Dave Cantrille for contacting me and agreeing a deal. I am now an owner of an extremely well looked after G1325 . Thanks to everyone for their advice :toast:
