a young Robin taken awhile back. Slightly odd expsoure as I was trying to get some background colour whilst lighting the bird with a 580Ex gun with diffuser mounted off camera and the light was dropping. The white on the branch isn't perfect but it was already there so I left it alone

Canon 1D MkII N
Canon 600mm + 31mm extn tube

Kev - this looks a great image - there's good detail and the the fill flash seems to have worked a treat :toast: :toast:

It looks a little 'punch-less' on my CRT, but as I'm having calibration uncertanties it's proberbly ME!! :wavey:

Nice one :toast:

I wouldn't want to increase the contrast Andy so I hope it is your calibration and not mine lol

Nice to see a good close-up of the Robin in his freshly mottled plumage.
Like the pose, like the background and don't mind the white fungi on the branch at all.
I can see where Andy's coming from regarding the slight lack of contrast, not glaringly obvious at all,but I do feel a very slight curves adjustment would give the image just a little more oomph.
Good use of fill in flash although I'm not sure about the reflections in the eye.

Lovely image Kevin. I maybe would have liked a better perch but its a great shot as is.

Regards Chris.

I think it is a lovely shot of this 'ugly duckling'. I like the way you used the fill flash.
