Between the rocks
I posted a similar comp in color earlier and it did not get much feedback....although someone did order a print...

I went up the river the other day and tried a slightly different comp with a small cascade flowing into the river....converted it to Black and White in CS3...

I am curious as to how this works for you.....

thanks for looking and leaving a comment...

It's really dark on my monitor. And it looks like water and rocks to me. Nothing particularly moving.

Dark on mine too. If not for the waterfall, I'd think this was the Klickitat where the railroad used to cross.

Hmm.... I get the "it looks dark" comment more often then not....

back to the drawing board....

Darren,
The only part that looks really dark to me is the foreground water. Other than that I think it's not bad at all. You have captured the textures of the rocks nicely.

The bottom right corner is really dark and creates and empty void there. Croping some of that out might focus more attention on the rocks and moving water.

Darren, A pano of just the top seems to balance the light and dark for me and seems to increase the scale of the falls. The shutterspeed works well to seperate the water and rocks even though there tonal values are similar. :jump:

I must have missed the color version! For me, a crop of about the upper left 2/3rds would make this work well.
