I took a ride up to Sugarhill this morning. I found the field beside the church to be in reasonable shape and I worked the wide shot with the church in the background.
As I made my way back to my car some people told me that there was a moose in the Lupine field a ways down towards Franconia. I pack up my gear and got the 500mm ready but naturally by the time I got there about 6 cars had stopped and some guy with a point and shoot was jumping the stone wall and head towards the moose. The moose stood in a patch of Lupines for about another 2 seconds before bolting into the woods. Boy what you see when the bozo tourists screw things up!! At least I have the memory of that beautiful scene even if I didn't have time to stop my car and focus my camera!!
Well composed with repeating 'steeples' in this. I like the light and you handled the contrast well. Just a beautiful scene.
I had my 24mm on the other night when a moose walked right to the spot you were shooting from. I was far from my bigger glass, and like you, just stood and took it all in. (I did shoot it with the 24, it's not impressive ;) )
Really pretty shot, Jim. I agree about the "steeples". What would you think about cropping out the lupines hugging the right? Just a suggestion...
Frustrating story about the moose. People are so inconsiderate. Those are the times when you wish the moose would charge him enough to scare the crap out of him!
