Neitherworld
Both land and sea shown here in this black and white interpretation of Olympic's North Shi-Shi beach under dramatic skies. Thanks for comments.

Wow, what a landscape, er moonscape, marsscape ? Beautiful shot - if I was picky I'd wish for more balance on the Left and to see more of that slanted stack in the far Right..... but I'm not

I love this one, Marc.

Very dramatic image Marc! Amazing the way you capture movement and drama in your seascapes, it really captures the feeling of being there, but in a more dramatic dream world. Awesome!

Dream world was what I was going for here. This is definitely an interpretion, a combination of what I actually saw and what I felt went into my portrayal. I like to take more artistic liberties with the black and white medium, much like some of the old masters.

Beautiful, Marc. Most people think of contrasts in terms of light, but in your B&W seascapes you manage to create a contrast in motion that is just as effective. There is a lot of tension between the static and dynamic elements that are often in such close proximity to each other (The fingers of the ocean sweeping over the frozen sand in this photo for example). I like how this one was composed with the spire pointing right at the brightest part of the cloud formation. It's almost as if the clouds emanate from the sea stack.

It's pretty sweet, Marc. The water and sky seem to point to that weirdo island in the middle.

Another great image of the coast. I agree with Mike about how you capture the sutle contrast between the motion of the water and the static subjects and balance this with the contrast of the overall image. I like how you can still see detail in the right FG pebbles on the beach as the water seems to jump over it. I cant seem to capture the right moment when this happens. I must sound confusing !

Well I think this one is awesome also. The movement of the water along with the dramatic sky makes for a seascape full of mystery and mood. It just wouldn't have the same effect if it was in color.

It's kind of foreboding to me, Marc - sort of a mysterious image that could work as a stock photo (it could be anywhere - including Middle Earth), but way outside your typical images that have such a strong sense of place in the PNW.

Very powerful and moving. I've never seen shi shi captured in such a fashion, but you tend to bring a unique perspective to anywhere you visit.

Like John, I'd like to see a stack of somesort on the left.
