Most of you probably already know about this, but thought I would post a note regarding the Ansel Adams Exhibit in St Louis through July 16th. The show "features family photos that are more than a cut above". I can't wait to see this...here's a link for more information.
Thanks for the heads-up Bill - I'm putting that on my travel list for early July! I've been to about a dozen of his exhibits but this one will no doubt have something a little extra.
There was an exhibit of Ansel Adams work in Springfield a couple of years ago. The prints where, for lack of a better word "awesome". If anyone gets the chance I highly recommend making a visit to the exhibition.
That Springfield exhibit showed how his printing techniques evolved over the years since they had several prints of the same image printed many years apart displayed next to each other. And in that exhibit you could see where he signed his name four different ways over the years (some just were "AA"). The very first AA prints I ever saw were in a St. Louis art gallery when I was 8 or 9 - they made a lasting impression on me way back then and still do - nothing like standing there looking at one of those giant prints that were created with the master's hands - they simply glow unlike any other prints I have ever seen...
As I recall from the Springfield there was one print the Adams had printer 8 or 9 times over a dozen years. I have to agree with Tim, the prints just glowed.
