Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to connect two Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord 2's to make an extra long lead for use with a Canon 580EX.

Not only from a physical point of view, but obviously so as to still retain full control, functionality, etc, etc

Thanks,

Hi Justin

Not sure on this one but I'm sure the Transmitter ST-E2 retains all functions and if you wanted to use it from a hide you could always mount the transmitter on the Canon OCSC 2 and position this on the outside of your hide.

Regards
David

Hi David,

Thanks for your help.I'll probably end up getting an ST-E2 at some stage in the future anyway. But in the meantime I've got an oppurtunity of getting a second Off camera cord (I've already got one) for a good price so thought it could be useful as a quick and cheap alternative to the ST-E2,it's just for a temporary thing I'm planning on doing so I didn't really want to get the transmitter just yet.
Guess I'll get it anyway, even if it doesn't work when linked,it'll be handy as a spare.

I guesss joining the two won't harm the flash in any way,I guess it'll either just work,or won't.

Hi justin
If you are shooting via a remote release with the flash's on power save then you cant bring them into action with the ST-E2 without Physically turning them on.
This was a problem for me on a project.

I obtained a second hand OCSC, cut the lead in half, got some lead from maplins and made my own lead 3m long by joining the two ends to the middle lead, it works a treat and has for several years.

Hi Gary,

I'll remember that about the power save function, thanks.

Do you remember off hand what type of wire is needed to extend the cord?

U need something that will fit a PS/2 port like the one we used to see on mice and keyboards before they went USB. U can probably still get a 5m PS/2 extension cable off ebay for next to nothing and just mod your OCSC accordinly with PS/2 ports from maplins

Thanks Szekiat,
Sounds straight forward enough.
