Here's a more crowd pleasing post compared to my last. My friend and I had launched into the wilderness this day, paddling north into the boundary waters canoe area wilderness. Our destination for the day was Loon Lake, a lake that borders Minnesota and Ontario. This day, like most launch days was inevitably hectic. Permits, maps (which were strangely out of stock where I live) and breakfast all needed to be acquired before even arriving at the launch point. Upon finally arriving at our entry point into the wilderness, we rushed again to leave before a large group that would slow us down significantly at the next portage. The day itself was a somewhat typical Minnesota spring day; cool, stormy and rather temperamental. Getting rained on in the wilderness is always memorable for me (for whatever reason), we managed to get rained on twice this day. Once at lunch, and again when we finally arrived at camp and were setting up our tents. Oddly enough, the spring rains lifted my spirits and served as a point of excitement, a reminder of the return of life to the northland. As sunset drew nearer, I found a composition that I liked, set up my camera and simply sat down and enjoyed the moment. On the far side of the lake stood the Canadian shore, and I watched as the clouds and light seemed to dance over it. I only took a single shot of the sunset that developed, firing it off at the moment I felt best balanced the composition. Rather than rush about in an attempt to find a different composition, I took the opportunity to unwind and reconnect with the world around me. In retrospect, I'm glad I did. Enjoy!

A quick side-note: I'm having a couple of compression issues with this web file for some reason...the full size image is fine. Weird.

Joel, This is beautiful -- calm and serene. Really like the reflected sky in the foreground pool. Nice first shot. Sometimes it is more relaxing just to sit and enjoy a scene.

Joel, lovely! I love the fact that you waited for the moment and got the shot. This is very nice - makes me want to visit up there!
