I have been offered the opportunity to display some of my work at a local business. Since this is uncharted water for me what would be the best print for displaying? A matte finish print would be the least costly (not having deep pockets at the moment) on the other hand prints on fine art paper I think would look the best to display. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

David

David:
I'm sure others will have more experience than I do at the printing business, but the best paper to use will usually depend on your image. For B/W, I really like the Hahnemuhle photo rag 308. But for color, a luster, or matte type paper will usually give you the best results. Inkjetart micro ceramic luster is my paper of choice for color.

Hey Bill,

Thanks for the help, kind of went along with my thinking. The one thing I failed to mention, I don't have the capability to do the prints myself, so I'll have to go somewhere for that. The prints will be in color and I am not sure of the print size I want yet either.

I hear there are a couple of guys in Arkansas that do custom printing Dave. I think one lives in Rogers and the other, a place called Cloudland I think. I don't know about their pricing but I've seen some of their work and it's top notch stuff!

Any referral fees available boys!

Since you're going to be using a service, show them the images and get some guidance on the size and type of media they would suggest. They will have the media in stock so you won't have to buy it. It will be a one stop deal.

Good luck and congratulations on the exhibit! :toast:

 Here I go trying to sell something again, but I am about the only one around the Rogers-Bentonville metro area that offers truly custom prints from a large format printer. Wal-mart and Sams have big Epsons, but you get what you pay for, and I finally gave up waiting in line and burning gas trying to get a decent print. You're pretty much at the mercy of a computer to give you what you want. Bedford's moved their printers to F'ville I believe, and weren't much better than WM or Sams, and were twice the price. Check my website if you think you might be interested.

Hey Wayne, I am lucky that there are a couple of custom printers close by, that may be handy, because I sure I won't be using Wal-Mart. Bill I'll take a look at your website, thanks!
