Hello Chris. the first thing I thought when I saw this was Rod Hull's Emu rising from a yellow mist. I think, for me, the OOF foreground has too much emphasis and detracts from the subject somewhat, A nice try though.

Good idea but does not quite come off for me either for the same reason as mentioned already.

Chris - I like the OoF, but there's a bit too much for my liking too - perhaps some cropped off the right and a tad cropped the bottom??

Nice image though :toast:

Hi All,

Thanks for replies so far. I have reposted the image with a bit cropped off the side and bottom as requested.

Thanks and regards
Chris. :toast:

Hello Chris

Your repost may be better but I see two distractions here.

1. The oof yellow blob is a bit overpowering

2. There is excess sharpening halo around the head and neck.

I do, however, like this style of shot a lot.

Regards

The repost is much better IMHO, but the OOF blobs on the Razorbill's neck still distract. A good idea which sadly did not quite come off. Keep on trying though. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Well Chris I think the repost is much better - I like it a lot - if it were my shot I'd be happy to say the least :toast:
As ARD points out though there is a sharpening halo (you naughty chap :frown: ) and you could change the tint/saturation of the yellowOoF lump infront of the bird (try selecting the yellow blob with a 10px feather and desat it a bit).

Only nits matey - an overall nice job :toast:
