It's been quite sometime since I've posted here, but hopefully you guys can help me out as much as you have in the past. I'm planning a trip to Grand Teton either this fall, or the next. I was just wondering if anyone had been there and could recommend maybe a month to travel there? I'd love to shoot fall color, and some alpine scapes. We'll be backpacking the whole time, probably 6 days. Any recommendations? All I know is that I want to go, and have an airline voucher and a camera. Thanks!

Late september, and early october are the best IMO. The last week of sept, and first of Oct were the best when I was there last. If I only had a week I would aim for last of sept in case any storms come through and knock down the leaves.
I also vote for late Sept/Early Oct. I spent about three weeks there during that time, I was pretty much alone everywhere I went (with a few exceptions, if you see a moose at Oxbow Bend and other places like that the photographers appear out of nowhere and line up), and that wasn't even off the beaten path. It snowed in the first part of October, so the latter part of Sept would probably be better, and a better bet to catch some nice color. It's a great time to visit.
I agree too. My best shots were the last week of Sept/first week of October, when the aspens are at peak color.
Have fun! There is a great Teton/Yellowstone photographers's guide that would be useful too. You can get it any any park bookstore, or I'd be happy to lend you my copy, if you like..

I've only been there once, in July, and it was glorious. From the prior posts, Sept/Oct sound even better.
The shots from that trip are in the Jackson Hole folder on my web site. If you have any questions about them, either post them here or send me a note...it was the best trip we ever took (until the next one).
I have been twice in late september. It is spectacular. This last fall, we arrived just after the first snow storm. The snow was all gone from the ground, but the peaks had a nice dusting. You could literally watch the trees change color from day to day. Here is an image at Oxbow bend at the begining of our trip.
