Sunset Egret
In Florida right now, coming home tomorrow night. In the morning, I plan to hit sunrise on the Atlantic, so wish me luck! Florida coastlines are not very photogenic, at least from what I've heard and now seen.
Saw this guy last night at sunset along the Gulf of Mexico, who let me get REALLY close. This is nearly full frame, as I just cropped a little off the bottom to save pixels and jpeg size. I was about 20 feet away I imagine, and this was taken at 200mm.

Cool shot Rick! Maybe the white balance is a little warm but I guess it is sunset light.

Erik,
The light was very golden. Sunset was at 8:27 last night, and this was taken at about 8:15pm.

Well its Tack sharp, thats for sure.....

good pose on this guy....and I have to disagree about the sunrise Rick, if there are clouds in the sky it should be spectacular....

THanks for all the comments! Maybe instead of posting a bird, I should be flipping you one  :wavey: Oh, I'm just kidding. I probably wouldn't comment on this either...but THanks Erik and Darren!

You are right about the sunset and sunrises here. They are awesome and they are frequent. It's neat to be able to get up for sunrise on one coastline, then have a leisure day...then get sunset on the other coast! I can get used to that!

As for comps though...I still stand that there aren't many. There's only so many dock/palm tree silhouettes you can do. It's gets boring REAL fast. The beaches have almost no rocks/cliffs, interest. The jungles are full of dead plants. It's FLAT FLAT FLAT also...

But that is a real nice image you posted Darren.
